Damascus, Oct. 1 (SANA) The Syrian Investment Authority held talks with Qatar’s ambassador on removing obstacles to Qatari investment and developing joint projects in priority sectors, the authority said.
Authority Director Ahmad Rouwad Ramadan and Ambassador Khalifa Abdullah Saad al-Mahmoud al-Sharif reviewed Qatari companies’ interest in the Syrian market, according to a statement posted on Telegram on Wednesday.
The meeting covered ways to facilitate investment procedures and strengthen direct communication with the authority and relevant public entities.
The two sides also discussed arranging visits by Qatari businesspeople, investors and companies to assess available opportunities and explore partnerships with the Syrian private sector.
They stressed the importance of continued coordination to turn investment opportunities into practical projects.
Ramadan held separate talks on Tuesday with Bahrain’s Ambassador Waheed Mubarak Sayyar on strengthening economic and investment cooperation and translating shared interests into practical steps.
The discussions are part of Syria’s efforts to attract Arab investment and expertise to productive and service sectors in support of economic recovery.
