Damascus, May 9 (SANA) Syrian Minister of Economy and Industry Nidal al-Shaar met Lebanese Minister of Economy and Trade Amer Bisat on Saturday in Damascus to discuss ways to expand economic cooperation and trade between Syria and Lebanon.

The Ministry of Economy and Industry said in a statement on Telegram that the talks covered several joint economic issues, with a focus on strengthening industrial partnerships and developing cooperation in ways that serve mutual interests and support regional economic integration.

The two sides also discussed reviewing trade mechanisms between the two countries and working to regulate them more effectively to ensure faster and more efficient economic exchange.

They stressed the importance of strengthening ties between chambers of industry and commerce in both countries and discussed the possibility of establishing a joint Lebanese-Syrian business council to enhance private sector cooperation and expand economic partnerships.

Earlier on Saturday, a Lebanese delegation led by Prime Minister Nawaf Salam arrived in Damascus for a visit aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation across several sectors, particularly economy, transport and energy.
