Washington, April 17 (SANA) US President Donald Trump announced on Friday the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, following its closure by Iran after the outbreak of the US-Israeli–Iranian war on February 28.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump said “Iran has just announced that the strait is fully open and ready for full passage,” adding that maritime restrictions would remain in effect exclusively on Iran until a comprehensive agreement is reached.
He noted that the process is expected to move forward rapidly, stating that most key points have already been negotiated.
Earlier in the day, Trump said the war in Iran would end soon, describing US military performance as “perfect.”
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most critical maritime corridors for global energy supplies, and any disruption to navigation through it has wide-ranging implications for international trade and energy markets.
