Astana, SANA – Kazakh Foreign Minister Kairat Abdrakhmanov affirmed that his ministry does not yet have information about the possibility of holding a second meeting in Astana on the settlement of the crisis in Syria.
Responding to reporters’ questions, Abdrakhmanov said he has no information yet about such a meeting, calling for going back to the first source of such reports.
Earlier, Vitaly Naumkin, the director of the Institute of Oriental Studies at the Russian Academy of Sciences, said that he does not rule out the possibility that there could be a second and a third Astana meetings.
Last Tuesday, Astana meeting concluded by releasing a final statement which affirmed the sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic and stressed that the only solution to the crisis in Syria will be through a political process.
The statement announced the formation of a trilateral mechanism to monitor the cessation of hostilities agreement in Syria and stressed on fighting terrorism.
