Damascus, SANA- Media, Communications and Technology committee at the People’s Assembly discussed on Monday new visions for developing the national media in the upcoming stage.
During the meeting which was held in the presence of Speaker of the People’s Assembly Hadiyeh Abbas and Information Minister Mohammad Ramez Tourjman, members of the Committee stressed the need for developing media legislations to improve the situation of workers in the media sector.
In turn, Speaker Abbas affirmed the important role of the national media in facing misleading and fabricated news published by western media outlets that aim at distorting the truth of what is happening in Syria.
Abbas hailed the steadfastness of national media to continue its national role in defending Syria despite of all difficulties.
For his part, Minister Tourjman said that Information Ministry set up a new vision aiming at developing the private and public media outlets in order to reach “productive national media” and have the confidence and credibility among all citizens.
He added that the new vision requires re-evaluating to the work of the media establishments.
