Damascus, SANA- Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Fayssal Mikdad discussed on Wednesday with Head of the Humanitarian Aid Unit at the Swiss Foreign Ministry Manuel Bessler and an accompanying delegation aspects of cooperation between Syria and Switzerland in the relief domain.
Talks during the meeting dealt with means of enhancing cooperation and coordination in the humanitarian task sector and increasing the Swiss share in humanitarian projects in Syria.
Mikdad said Syria appreciates the aid provided by Switzerland to the Syrian people in the humanitarian field, affirming that Syria is ready to enhance cooperation and coordination with the Swiss side in the development field.
” The armed terrorist groups still target infrastructure, most recently, committing a war crime by cutting off water supply in Damascus and Aleppo which increased the suffering of civilians,” Mikdad said, calling on the international community to take more effective measures to stop and condemn the practices of terrorist organizations and punish their supporters.
Bessler, also member at the Swiss Federal Council for Humanitarian Aid, said that the Swiss Humanitarian Aid Unit has the desire to enhance its cooperation with the Syrian side in the humanitarian field.
“We will open an office for the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) in Damascus in short period of time,” Bessler said, thanking the Syrian government for the facilitations provided by it to the Swiss side in this field.
