Russian fighter jet crashes into the Mediterranean due to technical fault

Moscow, SANA – The Russian Defense Ministry stated Monday that a MIG-29 fighter jet crashed into the Mediterranean Sea off the Syrian Coast during a training mission.

“An aviation accident with carrier-based fighter MIG-29K occurred during exercise flights as a result of a technical fault during the approach landing a few kilometers from the Admiral Kuznetsov aircraft-carrying cruiser,” said the ministry.

The pilot succeeded to eject himself from the aircraft which took off from the aircraft carrier with other two fighter jets on a training mission.
