“Aleppo Is Our Destination” Exhibition pays heartfelt tribute to the steadfast city of Aleppo

Damascus, SANA – Through 20 oil paintings of different themes and styles, Aleppo artists paid tribute to their steadfast city, Aleppo – the city of love and history with its ancient markets, picturesque citadel, schools, mosques and churches.

The artists, who took part in the exhibition “Aleppo Is Our Destination” organized at “Alef Noon” Gallery in Damascus, used various art styles from realism to abstraction and expressionism to depict the hard conditions, the pain and suffering of Aleppo inhabitants, yet feelings of hope and optimism dominated their artworks in a stress on Syria’s will to life.

Artist Bashir Badawi underlined the importance of this exhibition in expressing the participants’ inner thoughts and emotions and their sincere love to their war-torn city.

The monumental Citadel of Aleppo, the traditional Mawlawiyah dance and old-designed houses highlighted the artists’ divine love and adherence to their city.

Childhood was the prominent theme of Artist Ne’amat Badawi ‘s paintings: the first one is a portrait of two little girls who send messages of amity, hope and determination to survive despite all circumstances through their boat and kite they were playing with, while the second relates the story of a young girl who left the homeland with a jasmine in her hand in an indication to her love to her city.

The exhibition lasts till the 20th of November 2016.
