Russian Defense Ministry announces 8-hour humanitarian pause in Aleppo next Thursday

Moscow, SANA- The Russian Defense Ministry on Monday announced a humanitarian pause in Aleppo starting from next Thursday at 08:00 am (05:00 GMT) till 04:00 pm to allow the passage of the civilians and the evacuation of the sick and the injured.

Chief of the main operations directorate of Russia’s General Staff, Sergey Rudskoy was quoted by Russia Today website as saying “We understand that coordination of all issues can take a long time. Therefore, we decided not to delay a decision and initiate a ‘humanitarian pause,’ primarily for the free passage of civilians, the evacuation of the sick and wounded, as well as the withdrawal of gunmen.”

Terrorists positioned in the eastern neighborhoods in Aleppo use the civilians as human shields and they prevent them from using the safe corridors opened by the Syrian Government and they also prevent the humanitarian aid from reaching the needy.

Rudskoy added that there are talks on opening two corridors from the eastern neighborhoods of Aleppo into Idleb countryside, one running along the Castello Road and the other in the south of the city.”

He stressed that the six humanitarian corridors which have been previously opened are still open for the evacuation of civilians from Aleppo, indicating that the Russian side will ensure the safety of the civilians and will provide the medical aid to them and that they will be transported to makeshift centers.
