Goa/India, SANA – The leaders of the BRICS group called for an immediate end to the war in Syria, finding a peaceful solution there through Syrian-Syrian dialogue, working to combat terrorism and preventing the use of any country’s territory to support terrorism.
In a joint declaration at the end of the eighth BRICS summit which took place in the Indian city of Goa on Sunday, the leaders of BRICS group expressed their concern about what is happening in Syria and said “we call upon all parties involved to work for a comprehensive and peaceful resolution of the conflict taking into account the legitimate aspirations of the people of Syria.”
They affirmed that a solution can be reached “through inclusive national dialogue and a Syrian-led political process based on Geneva Communiqué of 30 June 2012 and in pursuance of the UN Security Council Resolution 2254 and 2268 for their full implementation.”
The BRICS group was established in 2009. It includes India, Russia, China, Brazil and South Africa.
