Ryabkov: US proposal to impose ban on aviation activities in some Syrian areas ineffective

Moscow, SANA-Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov affirmed on Thursday that the US proposal to impose a ban on aviation activities in some areas of Syria is ineffective and invalid.

In a press statement in Moscow, Ryabkov said that this proposal is unusable until not only the United States, but also other parties to this process ensure non-use of force by structures which are still convinced that war is the only way to solve the crisis in Syria, adding that the US administration, which proposed such a thing is not able to fulfill its promises to separate armed groups that it is supporting from the terrorists of Jabhat al-Nusra.

He pointed out that the attack on the humanitarian aid convoy in Western Aleppo and the US aggression on the Syrian Arab Army’s site near Deir Ezzor reduced the chances for a deal between the US and Russia on Syria, adding that there is no alternative to a Russian-US agreement.

He pointed out the Russian-US agreement in Geneva is sufficiently balanced and presents probably the utmost in the current circumstances of the crisis in Syria and the continuing tragedies, adding that this agreement is not adhered to by a number of parties, especially the anti-Syrian government forces and their patrons from outside the country.

Ryabkov reiterated Russia’s denial of any involvement in the attack on a humanitarian aid convoy west of Aleppo, saying that the accusations of US Secretary of State John Kerry and some Pentagon officials against Russia are unacceptable.
