Gatilov: participants in Geneva meeting affirmed the need for resuming the Syrian- Syrian dialogue

Moscow, SANA-Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov announced that the participants in the trilateral Russian-US-UN meeting held Tuesday in Geneva agreed on the necessity of exerting the needed efforts to push forward the political settlement to solve the crisis in Syria and to resume the Syrian- Syrian dialogue.

 “We had a fairly frank exchange of views, taking into account the latest developments in Syria and around this country. We came to a consensus on the need for further efforts to promote the political process and the resumption of intra-Syrian dialogue,” Gatilov said after the meeting.

We believe there should be no preconditions for the start of the next round of intra-Syrian negotiations,” Gatilov added.

Later, UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura said he aims to start the next round of intra-Syrian talks before the end of August, hailing the meeting as fruitful.

Moscow: operations in Syria prevented terrorists from expanding in the areas they exist

Meanwhile, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Oleg Syromolotov said that the Russian operations against terrorist organizations in Syria prevented them from expanding in the areas they exist.

RT quoted Syromolotov as saying that the operations conducted by the Russian Aerospace forces in Syria allowed to prevent terrorists from expanding areas which come under their control, to sign the agreement of the cessation of hostilities, increase the delivery of humanitarian aid and create conditions to promote national reconciliation, adding that there is a long way to achieve the final victory against terrorists in Syria and Iraq.
