Aid from Russia distributed to displaced families in Damascus Countryside

Damascus Countryside, SANA- A new batch of humanitarian aid provided by Russia was distributed among displaced families in a makeshift housing center in Herjalleh town in cooperation with Damascus Countryside Governorate.

Colonel Artyom Kazanov from the Russian coordination center in Hmeimim Airbase said in a statement that 2.5 tons of aid provided by the Russian government and consisting of various food items was distributed to the displaced families in Herjalleh as part of its support for the Syrian people and for local reconciliation efforts in Damascus Countryside.

The Coordination Center is working to expand the scope of humanitarian aid and to distribute aid twice a week in Damascus Countryside, Kazanov added.

For his part, Herjalleh mayor Abdelrahman al-Khateeb said that Damascus Countryside Governorate is providing services and humanitarian aid to the displaced people in the makeshift housing center in the town which house more than 2,600 people, noting that the municipality is working to secure jobs for the displaced people to help them, in addition to having a kitchen inside the center that provides them with meals on daily basis.
