SYP 1.53 billion delivered in compensation for terrorism-affected properties in Damascus

Damascus, SANA – SYP 1.35 billion have so far been paid in compensation to people affected by the terrorist acts in Damascus city, Director of the Financial Affairs at Damascus Governorate said.

Mohammad Ali Awad told SANA in a statement that this is the total amounts of money disbursed since the Damage Compensation Subcommittee of Damascus started work in 2012.

Awad put the number of beneficiaries from the money at around 7500 people.

He noted that the number of claims for damages lodged so far has reached 24900, including damage caused to houses, shops and cars.

Some 9815 of those claims were examined and compensation for those was estimated at SYP 2.370 billion, according to Awad.
