Eight new breaches of the cessation of hostilities, 114 towns joined the agreement

Lattakia, SANA – Terrorist groups breached the cessation of hostilities agreement in Syria eight times in the past 24 hours, raising the total number of beaches to 585 since the agreement came into effect on 27 February 2016, the Russian Coordination center said.

The center, based in Hmeimim airbase, added in a statement on Sunday that all breaches were perpetrated in Damascus where terrorists, affiliated to the so-called Jaish al-Islam, targeted with mortar shells a number of military posts in Madaya and Eastern Ghouta in Damascus countryside.
“Terrorist organization of Jabhat al-Nusra continued attempts to foil the cessation of
hostilities agreement by targeting military posts and residential neighborhoods with mortar rounds and rocket shells at Handarat refugees camp, al-Nayrab airport, and neighborhoods of al-Sheikh Maqsoud, al-Khalediya, and al-Ramousa in Aleppo as well as a number of towns in the northern countryside of Lattakia” the Center added.
The cessation of hostilities agreement does not include Jabhat al-Nusra, ISIS and other groups listed by the UN as terrorist organizations.

The statement noted that the Syrian army has foiled attempts by Jabhat al-Nusra terrorists to attack military posts in Damascus countryside and inflicted heavy losses upon them and forced them to retreat.
The Russian center added that the number of towns that joined the cessation of hostilities raised to 114 while the number of armed groups that have declared their commitment to the cessation of hostilities agreement remained 59.
