De Mistura: 2nd round of inter-Syrian talks in Geneva will not start until the both sides are ready

Geneva, SANA-The UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura will not start the second round of inter-Syrian talks in Geneva planned for February 25 until the Syrian government and the opposition are ready for it, spokeswoman of the Special Envoy for Syria Ms. Khawla Mattar announced on Friday.

“The special envoy does not want to start the talks again unless both parties to the talks are ready and well prepared,” Mattar said.

On Thursday, de Mistura said in an interview with Svenska Dagbladet Swedish Newspaper that it is unrealistic to resume negotiations between the delegations of Syrian government and opposition in Geneva on February 25.

On the 3rd of February, de Mistura suspended the first round of Syrian-Syrian talks in Geneva between the Syrian government and opposition, claiming that a lot of work is need first by all parties concerned.
