Syria and Belarus discuss means to increase scholarships for Syrian students

Damascus, SANA – Minister of Higher Education Mohammad Amer al-Mardini discussed Sunday with the Belarus Ambassador in Damascus Alexander Ponomarev means of activating the executive program for the cultural agreement signed between the two countries so as to increase scholarships for Syrian students to study at the Belarusian universities.

Minister al-Mardini focused on the importance of enhancing relations between the two friendly countries and encouraging mutual visits of academics in support of continuing and developing the standing cooperation on different levels.

For his part, Ambassador Ponomarev highlighted the deeply rooted historic relations between the two countries and the role played by Syrians graduated from universities in Belarus in boosting the bilateral scientific and economic relations.

He called for further efforts towards establishing an Association of Belarus Universities Graduates to help in updating knowledge and experience and keeping communication open with the universities they studied at.
