Damascus, SANA- Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Dr. Fayssal Mikdad received on Thursday the credentials of Sajad Malik, who is the new representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Syria.
Mikdad discussed with Malik cooperation and coordination between Syria and UNHCR and agreed to strengthen the existing coordination between them to provide services to refugees and displaced persons due to terrorism.
Mikdad stressed that the declared war on terrorism by Russia in cooperation with the Syrian government will contribute to alleviating the problem of refugees and displaced persons who left their towns and villages due to terrorism and will also contribute to creating an environment conducive for the return of Syrian refugees to their country.
For his part, Malik expressed his pleasure to work in Syria as a representative of UNHCR and emphasized willingness to continue cooperation and coordination with the Syrian government to provide aid to refugees and displaced persons in Syria.
