Ghalwanji: Government will spare no effort to deliver aid to civilians in unsafe areas

Damascus, SANA- Deputy Prime Minister for Services Affairs, Local Administration Minister Omar Ghalwanji affirmed on Wednesday the readiness of the Higher Committee for Relief to deal with the displacement situation caused by the attacks of armed terrorist organizations on al-Qariatin and Hawarin in Homs, al-Ghab plain in Hama, and Hasaka city.

During a meeting of the Higher Committee which he chairs, Ghalwanji reiterated the government’s commitment to delivering humanitarian aid to all citizens in need in all Syrian areas, including areas that are difficult to access.

He pointed out to the measures adopted by the government to alleviate up citizens’ suffering in Deir Ezzor city, Nubbul and al-Zahraa in Aleppo countryside, and Kifraya and al-Fo’ah in Idleb countryside, which are besieged by armed terrorist organizations.

Ghalwanji said that number of families which are benefiting from aid relief had increased by more than 50% in June, and relief efforts now cover more areas in Syria than before, adding that the Committee is working on developing its relations with UN organizations and non-governmental organizations.

On August 17th, the United Nations’ Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Stephen O’Brien called on the international community to increase funding for humanitarian response programs in Syria, expressing concern over the lack of resources and funding which will have a negative impact on humanitarian operations.
