Damascus, SANA- Minister of Electricity Imad Khamis asserted that the Ministry supports and encourages foreign firms willing to invest in the Syrian electricity sector and the devlepment and reconstruction process, and that it will provide them with all legislative and administrative facilitations and safety requirements.
During a meeting with representatives of Chinese, Ukrainian, Norwegian, and Austrian companies on Tuesday, Khamis said around EUR 19 billion of investment funding is needed to implement the plan set for the power sector until 2025, adding that the plan includes constructing new power plants and substations.
He stressed that despite the terrorist war waged on the country, the Electricity Ministry has continued building and expanding its infrastructure, adding that the decrease in the electricity feed is mainly due to the terrorist attacks on petroleum sector infrastructure.
For their part, the representatives of the foreign firms outlined the projects they can construct in Syria, and they also met with technical team of the Ministry and discussed technical and administrative measures aimed at accelerating their investments in the country.
The foreign firms in question are State Enterprise Zorya, Harbin Guanghan Gas Turbine, Harris Group Engineering, and Jacobsen Elektro.
