Religious celebrations of Laylat al-Qadr all over the country

Damascus, SANA Ministry of Awqaf (Religious Endowments) celebrated Monday “Laylat al Qadr”, also known as the “Night of Decree” at the Umayyad Grand Mosque in Damascus.

Muslims across the world celebrate “Laylat al- Qadr”, which most likely falls on one of the last 10 days of the holy month of Ramadan.

They commemorate the night when God revealed the holy book of “Qur’an” to Prophet Muhammad, according to Islamic belief. Muslims pray in the Night to God for mercy.night of decree1

“Islam is a religion of amity, peace and tolerance, but not what the terrorists are perpetrating of killing and criminal acts”, Minister of Awqaf Mohammad Abdul-Sattar al-Sayyed said, hailing the supreme meanings of the Night.

Minister al-Sayyed said ..The new standard version of the Holy Quran, handed earlier on the day to President Bashar Al-Assad, is a pioneer one in the Arab and Islamic world, indicating that President al-Assad also asked for an audio version.

The new standard version is to be the reference for all printed copies of the Holy Quran. It is the fruit of more than five years of hard work of members of a Permanent Committee at the Ministry of Awqaf for the Holy Quran Affairs and was revised more than 27 times to ensure its accuracy.

Meanwhile, religious celebrations of the Night were also held in provinces and cities all over the country with the start of recitations of the Holy Quran. Imams of the mosques focused, in their speeches, on the supreme meanings of the Night.
