Damascus, SANA – Commissioned by Prime Minister Wael al-Halaqi, Minister of State for the People’s Assembly Affairs Hassib Shammas offered condolences on the death of former Russian Prime Minister Yevgeny Primakov at the Russian Embassy in Damascus.
Shammas expressed, on behalf of the Syrian Government, deep condolences to the government and people of Russia.
Shammas said the departure of Primakov is a great loss, adding that Syria lost one of its supporters who had always defended its just issues and one of the loyal friends of the Syrian people.
Primakov passed away on June 26th at the age of 86 after long illness. He was one of the most prominent Orientalists, and he spoke Arabic fluently.
