Information Minister: Defending Hasaka from terrorists is the duty of all its people

Damascus, SANA – Information Minister Omran al-Zoubi said that defending Hasaka city from terrorists is the duty of all its people and the Syrian Arab Army, calling on all those who are capable to bear arms to defend the city.

In a telephone call with the Syrian TV, al-Zoubi said that army units, police forces, popular defense forces, and locals from Hasaka are positioned in the city to defend it, and that the situation in the city isn’t simple, stressing it’s unacceptable to let ISIS terrorists run amok and therefore everyone who is capable of bearing arms must do their part in confronting the threat of ISIS.

He said that terrorist organizations led by ISIS have been waging a wide-scale attack on Hasaka for days in an attempt to seize it, using various methods such as car bombs and terrorizing locals and committing massacres, adding that most of the actors are of various non-Syrian nationalities.

Al-Zoubi said that what is happening in Hasaka isn’t separate from what is happening in other areas, as there are operation rooms in Jordan and Turkey that coordinate and plan together, saying that the Turkish government’s relation with ISIS is known, citing the example of what happened in Ain al-Arab which was attacked by ISIS members that came from Turkey.

In a relevant context, al-Zoubi told al-Manar TV in a telephone call that Syria has always been warning that terrorism won’t recognize borders and it doesn’t distinguish between Christians or Muslims, and this was proven in the terrorist act which targeted a mosque in Kuwait on Friday.

The Minister added that the terrorist act which targeted al-Imam al-Sadeq Mosque in Kuwait is a condemned act.
