Damascus, SANA – Syriac Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All East Mar Ignatius Afram II said that some western countries are still providing support to terrorists who come from all corners of the world to fight in Syria.
In an interview on the Syrian TV on Monday, Patriarch Afram II said that Western countries should help counter terrorism as terrorism poses threat over the entire world, stressing that solving the crisis in Syria can be reached only through a Syrian-Syrian dialogue sponsored and headed by the Syrian government.
On his meeting with UN Envoy to Syria Staffan de Mistura, Patriarch Afram II said he told de Mistura that all the Syrians wish this war would end, adding that he demanded the UN to exert pressure on all sides as to bring the Syrians at a negotiating table where they can reach peace and determine the future of their country.
He called upon the Syrians to be patient and firm in the face of all enemies, hoping that peace will soon prevail again in the country.
