Homs governor discusses with UN delegation means of improving relief work

Homs, SANA-Homs governor Talal al-Barazi discussed on Thursday with a delegation comprising representatives of UN organizations and humanitarian bodies means of improving the relief and the humanitarian situation in the province.

Al-Barazi presented a review of the damage and sabotage that Homs neighborhoods had been subjected to due to terrorist organizations and the government’s efforts to return normalcy to those areas through providing citizens with basic needs and rehabilitating infrastructure.

He affirmed that the government is committed to delivering humanitarian aid to all areas, including those which are hard to access.

The governor hailed the role of UN organizations in supporting humanitarian and relief work, stressing the province’s readiness to iron out the difficulties and problems obstructing their work.

For his part, Panos Moumtzis, who is the Regional Coordinator for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) said that the visit aims to asses the UN organizations’ work in the province and for the delegation to have a close look into the circumstances of displaced families and their needs.
