Damascus, SANA- Health Minister Nizar Yazaji said on Monday that the average of national medicine that covers the whole country reached nearly 89% off the local market needs, compared to nearly 93% before the outbreak of the crisis.
“The Syrian medicinal industry has proven an important presence on the local level in addition to exporting some types of it to a number of foreign countries,” the Minister said in an opening speech at the scientific days conference of Damascus pharmaceutical syndicate held at Dama Rose.
The 3-day conference holds discussions on the biological medicines, lab diagnosis and the pharmaceutical industries in Syria.
The Minister affirmed that the health sector spares no effort to meet the needed medical demands of citizens, adding that Syria was one of the leading countries in light of health indicators according to World Health Organization.
On the sidelines of the conference, an exhibition on the pharmaceutical industries was opened with the participation of 30 companies.
