Damascus, SANA – Syrian women have figured prominently in the Middle East region in terms of going deep into studying and applying energetics, where they have utilized the science of energy in many fields such as medical treatment, business and beauty.
Ghalia al-Baghdadi, who is an Energetics specialist and practitioner, is one example of those women. She has been the first Syrian woman to utilize energetics studies in service of beauty salons.
She spoke to SANA of her experience, which she said involved some difficulties of the sort that face attempts to introduce any new culture to a society unfamiliar with it.
It was natural, she said, to have had women as her first clients.
“It was those ladies who seek and care for inner beauty that reflects on their looks who first showed up because those are quite convinced that a woman’s real beauty comes from within,” said al-Baghdadi, referring to this issue as Reiki healing.
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is based on the awareness of an unseen energy flowing through all living things that directly affects the quality of a person’s health. Healing by Reiki is administered by “laying on hands”.
The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words – Rei which means “God’s Wisdom or the Higher Power” and Ki which is “life force energy”. The healing method works on raising the level of the spiritually guided “life force energy” to keep a person healthy.
Reiki is basically a spiritual healing practice that arose from meditation experiences that normalize the flow of energy throughout the body, mind and spirit. It has goal of connecting with the inner source of stillness and peace.
Al-Baghdadi referred to the Syrian women’s openness to new ideas and experiences in general, saying this factor has been very helpful in having women making a remarkable turnout to the Reiki practice.
Her clients, she said, highly appreciated the technique, which is based on raising the happiness hormone, as a Reiki session feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that surrounds and fills the recipient.
Using the Reiki technique at beauty salons and centers in Syria, al-Baghdadi noted, has proved very useful in terms of giving a boost to the Syrian beauty centers to compete regionally and internationally.
