Aleppo, SANA – An oratorical festival entitled “History of Nations Written by Martyrs” was held at Aleppo University Saturday marking the centennial anniversary for the Armenian genocide perpetrated by Ottomans and on occasion of Martyrs’ Day.
The festival was organized by the Armenian NGO’s in Aleppo and Aleppo Trust for Boosting Nationalistic Constants.
Head of Aleppo City Council “Ayman Hallak” said the occasion of Martyrs’ Day comes this year to remind us of all the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the sake of the homeland.
He pointed out that the Armenians who escaped the mass massacres perpetrated by the criminal Ottomans have become throughout time a prominent part of the Syrian society.
In a word representing the Armenian NGO’s, Agope Kleijian called on the whole world to acknowledge the mass massacres committed by the Ottomans against the Armenians and to apologize for them and compensate them.
A number of martyrs’ families were honored during the festival in appreciation of the sacrifices provided by their sons. A documentary on the Armenian genocide was also screened.
