Information Minister: No meaning for political process if the world doesn’t support Syria against terrorism

Damascus, SANA-Information Minister Omran al-Zoubi said on Thursday the continued media campaign against Syria, which has begun since 4 years, has multiple tools and targets, calling for being aware of the events in the region.

“If terrorism was not defeated in the region, the world would witness a dangerous and horrible problem,” the Minister said at a meeting with a delegation of Syrian expatriates in Sweden and journalists from this European state.

He added the Syrian government is committed to find rapprochement among the Syrians, with their different attitudes, but the problem lies in a number of the opposition figures who receive orders and instructions from Arab and regional countries.

“No meaning to talk about any political process if the world countries don’t support Syria against terrorist organizations,” Minister al-Zoubi said.

He pointed out to the UN and EU double standard policy on the crisis in Syria through accusing the Syrian government of using chemical weapons in Eastern Ghouta in Damascus countryside and Khan al-Asal in Aleppo while they didn’t respond to an invitation by the Syrian Foreign Ministry to send an investigation commission to Khan al-Asal except after three months.

The Minister called on the US and Europe to lift the unjust economic sanctions on Syria and seriously work to combat terrorism, press neighboring countries to stop their support to the terrorist organizations.

“The official media has offered 38 martyrs and scores of wounded journalists… some European journalists have entered the country illegally where terrorist organizations abducted some of them,” the Minister told the delegation.

Head of the visiting delegation Sabri Ayoub affirmed that the Syrian expatriates came to Syria to inspect the reality of events here and convey what they see to Europe.
