Tehran, SANA – Iran and Switzerland stressed on dialogue as being the means to settle the crisis in Syria.
The two countries’ stress came at a meeting on Tuesday between the Special Envoy of the Swiss Foreign Affairs Ministry, Head of the Development and Cooperation Department, Manuel Bessler and Iranian Assistant Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdullahian, on the sidelines of a Syrian-Iranian-Swiss meeting that was held in Tehran to coordinate sending humanitarian aid to
Syria.
Achieving the objective of dialogue in Syria demands control of the Syrian borders with neighboring countries to halt the flow of arms and weaponry to the terrorist organizations in Syria, said Abdullahian.
While asserting that the Syrian people are the only ones who determine their country’s political future, Abdullahian called for exerting efforts to create the appropriate conditions to ensure the return of displaced Syrians to their home.
For his part, Bessler affirmed that Switzerland supports any plan that may contribute to settling the crisis in Syria and is ready to cooperate with the United Nations and its special envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura.
He also highlighted the need to provide the necessary environment for conducting a dialogue among the Syrian sides.
