UN reaffirms sovereignty of Syrians in occupied Golan, Palestinians in occupied territory over their natural resources

New York, SANA- The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) has adopted of a resolution reaffirming the permanent sovereignty of the Syrians in the occupied Syrian Golan and the Palestinian people in the occupied Palestinian territory over their natural resources.

The General Assembly adopted on Wednesday evening the annual resolution entitled “Permanent sovereignty of the Palestinian people in the occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem, and of the Syrians in the occupied Syrian Golan over their natural resources.”

A majority of 159 countries voted in favor of the resolution, while six countries and the Israeli occupation entity voted against it, and 11 countries abstained from voting.

The resolution reaffirmed the inalienable rights of the Syrians in the occupied Syrian Golan and the Palestinian people to their natural resources, including land, water and energy resources.

The resolution referred to the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice on the legal consequences of the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories, which confirms that the continued Israeli presence in the Palestinian territory is illegal and that “Israel” must end this occupation as soon as possible.

The United Nations expressed in its resolution its deep concern over “Israel’s” exploitation of Palestinian natural resources, the destruction it is causing to Palestinian lands and agriculture, and the widespread destruction of agricultural infrastructure.

The resolution also reaffirmed the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people to their natural resources and demanded compensation for the occupation’s exploitation of these resources, calling on the Israeli occupation to stop exploiting these resources.
