Syrian nurse saves life of newborn baby at Jdeidet Yabous border crossing with Lebanon

Damascus, SANA- A Syrian nurse called Amira al-Halbouni has managed to rescue the life of a pregnant and her newborn baby coming from Lebanon at Jdeidet Yabous border crossing fleeing from the Israeli aggression on various areas in Lebanon.

“After midnight one of the nights, the families were rushing to enter Syria through the crossing in search of safety after a difficult journey they had made as they were in a state of fear and terror from the brutality of the Israeli aggression, I faced a sudden labor situation for a woman,” the nurse told SANA reporter.

“I had no choice but to perform the birth process in an ambulance, even though I am not a midwife, but I have sufficient experience gained during my work. There was not enough time to transfer the woman to the hospital. After a while, the birth process was successful, as the mother and the newborn were in good health, and they were transferred to Al-Zabadani Hospital in Damascus countryside after giving the newborn the necessary vaccine,” the nurse added.

The Health Ministry honored the nurse al-Halbouni in appreciation for her great efforts, with the nurse affirming that this honor gives a greater incentive to enhance the responsibility that falls on the shoulders of medical cadres to meet needs in difficult circumstances such as disasters and wars and to continue providing health support to the comers from the brotherly Lebanon.

She expressed happiness when the women named her new baby Amira.

For his part, Health Minister Dr. Ahmad Damiriyah highlighted the great efforts by the the health workers at the border crossings and their full readiness to deal with various circumstances and the great response since the beginning of the Israeli aggression on Lebanon.
