Beijing, SANA- The 6th World Media Summit, which was held in the city of Urumqi, the capital of the Chinese province of Xinjiang, stressed the importance of adopting innovative methods to employ artificial intelligence in media work in a responsible way, which contributes to accelerating digital transformation and enhancing the media’s ability to tell stories of sustainable development more effectively.
Participants in the summit, which was held under the motto “Artificial Intelligence and Media Transformation,” with the participation of SANA, pointed to the pivotal role of the media to confront the challenges and exploit the opportunities that artificial intelligence presents to the global media landscape.
They called for strengthening international efforts to govern this intelligence due to its profound impact on various aspects of economic and social development, while warning at the same time of the potential dangers of this technology.
The participants stressed “the necessity of adhering to professional ethics and journalistic standards and the importance of confronting the use of artificial intelligence in spreading misleading news and rumors and investing it in developing methods of collecting and publishing news, with a focus on highlighting its positive role in promoting sustainable development and improving the quality of life.”
More than 500 participants from 208 leading media organizations participated in the event, which was cohosted by state-run Xinhua News Agency and the Xinjiang regional government.
