New York, SANA- Syria’s permanent representative to the UN, Ambassador Qusay al-Dahhak said that Syria condemns Israeli acts of aggression on countries of the region and calls on the UN to put an end to it.
“We would not have reached to this situation today if the Security Council had stopped the Israeli aggression on the Palestinian people and countries of the region in implementation of its responsibilities in maintaining international peace and security,” Ambassador al-Dahhak said in a statement at UN Security council session.
The Ambassador added that the member states’ statements reflected a real will to put an end to the occupation’s runaway and its obsession with igniting wars and shedding blood, however, these demands were met with war criminals continuing their aggressive actions in Palestine, Syria and Lebanon.
“Our region has reached the brink of a devastating war that does not exclude anyone, and it is unacceptable for the Security Council’s reaction to be limited to holding one session after another without adopting outcomes that lead to serious and tangible action,” al-Dahhak added.
He affirmed that the United States’ continued supplying of unlimited support to the Israeli occupation, protecting it from accountability, enabling it to escape punishment, and preventing the Security Council from stopping its attacks is pushing the situation in the region towards a comprehensive war.
“The occupation launched a barbaric bombing campaign on Lebanon and deliberately mobilized its forces in preparation for a ground invasion of its south after its heinous aggression that claimed the life of Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah,” the Ambassador said.
He added that Syria reaffirms its support to the Lebanese and Palestinian peoples and it will spare no effort to provide humanitarian assistance to the Lebanese brothers despite the grave challenges resulting from the blockade and illegal coercive measures.
Ambassador Al-Dahhak concluded by saying that the Security Council must work seriously and urgently to end the ongoing suffering in Gaza and the bloodshed in the region and immediately and unconditionally stop the Israeli aggression on Palestine, Syria and Lebanon.
