Syria, Iran discuss bilateral ties, means of offering more assistance to displaced Lebanese

Damascus-SANA- Prime Minister Muhammad Ghazi al-Jalali met today with the Iranian ambassador in Damascus, Hussein Akbari, with the two sides focusing on ways of cooperation to provide support to Lebanese arrivals.

During the meeting, al-Jalali and Akbari discussed prospects for strengthening bilateral relations, and the latest developments in the region in light of the continued Israeli aggression against the Lebanese and Palestinian peoples.

Al-Jalali pointed out that the Syrian government, under the directives of President Bashar al-Assad, provides everything necessary for the Lebanese brothers who have arrived through rapid response and amending some procedures to facilitate their reception, and works to secure their needs and follow up on their conditions in their places of residence in coordination among the various ministries and agencies.

The Prime Minister explained that Syria is open to any initiative that contributes to providing support to Lebanese expatriates, and that it stands by them.The two sides reviewed the mechanisms of cooperation to secure various needs and humanitarian, relief and medical assistance for Lebanese citizens here, where the Iranian ambassador expressed his country’s readiness to provide various assistance in coordination with the relevant authorities in Syria.
