Washington, SANA- Former US President and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump was the target of an assassination attempt Saturday during a speech he was giving at an election campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
” The former US president was injured in the ear after being shot during the rally in an assassination attempt that would fuel fears of instability ahead of the presidential elections.” AFP reported.
Videos showed the 78-year-old former US president with his face covered in blood after the shooting in Butler, Pennsylvania, in which the suspect and a bystander were killed and two attendees were seriously injured.
The US Secret Service said in a statement that the suspect had fired several shots from an elevated structure a few hundred meters away outside the venue before being neutralized by service members, announcing the death of one attendee and the serious injury of two others.
