Arnous, Ahmad discuss developing Syrian-Indian relations

Damascus, SANA- Prime Minister Hussein Arnous discussed Saturday with Indian Ambassador in Damascus Irshad Ahmad means to bolster bilateral cooperation in the industrial, scientific, health, commercial, information technology, energy, capacity building and human resources fields.

Premier Arnous underlined the Syrian government’s keenness to develop cooperation and the joint work with the Indian government through opening new cooperation opportunities and completing the joint projects to serve the interest of the two friendly countries and peoples.

Arnous pointed out the importance of increasing the number of scholarships offered by India, especially in the medical, engineering and information fields, expressing appreciation for India’s positions in support of Syria and its standing by earthquake affected people and providing them with medical and relief assistance.

Arnous called on the Indian side to contribute in reconstruction process in Syria, affirming the importance of encouraging the business sectors in the two countries to establish investment projects and partnerships, and enhancing trade exchange by exchanging goods that the markets of the two countries need.

He also stressed the importance of the two sides taking appropriate measures in preparation for holding the joint governmental committee to discuss ways to enhance joint cooperation.

The Indian Ambassador, for his part, underlined his country’s willingness to develop bilateral cooperation in various fields, reviewing the most important cooperation issues achieved during the previous period.
