Lattakia, SANA- Minister of Information, Dr. Boutros Al-Hallaq stressed that the new information law draft that is currently being approved is the result of an integrated institutional work that meets the aspirations of media professionals and pushes media work towards new horizons, as it also immunizes media professionals who belong to national media institutions and opens the way for them to develop their performance, which reflects positively on them professionally and financially.
In a dialogue meeting with media professionals in Lattakia province, in the presence of the Director General of General Authority for Radio and Television, Habib Salman, and Director General of Al-Wahda Foundation for Printing and Publishing, Amjad Issa, al-Hallaq stressed that as far as the journalist is professional and his information is documented as his immunity is enhanced and confidence is strengthened with the public opinion that has come to distinguish between a true professional journalist committed to the issues of his society and his country and those who are intruders to this profession.
He pointed out the importance of the efforts made by the professional journalist in obtaining the accurate information that the citizen needs to form a correct picture of government work in various sectors.
Al-Hallaq noted that the ministry is working to establish partnerships in the media sector with the private sector, which will create new job opportunities and solve many problems.
Minister al-Hallaq pointed out that the meeting of the media professionals comes within the framework of ongoing periodic meetings during which the media professionals are listened to and discussed in matters of the profession, the law and the difficulties they are facing.
The Minister pointed out that today’s dialogue focused on the media law and clarifying some points related to media work to reach the correct image of the media law that must be able to regulate the media profession and protect public opinion from intruders.
The provisions of the law that were discussed are in the interest of the media professional and the nature of his work as independence and freedom of access to information, the Minister added.
With regard to technical needs, Al-Hallaq stated that the media needs continuous technical development of the means, but due to the circumstances that Syria is going through, especially the economic blockade, there are many obstacles related to importing technology.
