Syria, WHO discuss supporting national priorities related to the health strategy

Damascus, SANA- Health Minister Hassan al-Ghabbash discussed Monday with a delegation from regional office of the World Health Organization (WHO) ways to support national priorities related to the health strategy.

Participants stressed the need to consolidate the relationship between the ministry and the organization by setting priorities and developing a clear strategy to determine long-term goals, methods of implementing them, and the mechanism of work to achieve these goals.

The minister underlined the important role of WHO in the health sector through coordination and rapid response to needs.

Al-Ghabbash also pointed out the visit paid to Syria by Dr. Hanan Balkhi, the WHO Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean during which she was briefed on the health situation and the challenges it faces, keep close eye on the situation of hospitals.

In turn, the acting representative of the World Health Organization, Iman al-Shanqitit indicated the necessity of working continuously, reviewing the health situation, and conducting technical studies regarding aid and identifying the needs of health facilities, especially medical devices.
