On Easter, sound of bombs overshadows the bells of churches in Gaza

Occupied Jerusalem, SANA- Christian denominations in Gaza that follow the Eastern calendar, celebrated glorious Easter to the sound of the Israeli Occupation Air Force bombing and the buzzing of bullets, which overwhelm church hymns.

WAFA news agency quoted Imad al-Sayegh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Gaza Churches Union as saying” the genocidal war waged by the occupation has made this year’s Christmas ceremony different from the rest of the previous years, there are no manifestations of joy and rejoicing in the church”.

Al-Sayegh, who sought refuge at the Church of Saint Porphyrius in Gaza City’s eastern district, like other Christian families in the city, added “Sadness prevails in the atmosphere inside the church, as is the case outside it,there is no room for joy and celebration, in light of the massive destruction, continuous bombing, and casualties”.

During the aggression, three Christian churches were significantly damaged, and Israeli forces targeted the Orthodox Cultural Center in the Al-Rimal neighborhood of Gaza City.
