Damascus, SANA-President Bashar al-Assad met Thursday the retired officers who have completed a special training program, held by Veterans’ Association in cooperation with Administrative Development Ministry, in a way that enables them to practice their future role with more efficiency and competence in the field of public and local work.

During the meeting, President al-Assad stressed the importance of investing in the level of maturity, knowledge and accumulated skill for the retired officers to serve the State and society in various fields, adding that the training held for the officers added to their military experiences other societal and administrative capabilities that will be reflected in their performance of various roles within society, which needs its various competencies and members.

“The retirement stage is the beginning of a new life, not the end of a life… The retirement stage may bring greater achievements than those gained during the official work stage,” the President said.

President al-Assad added that the greatest challenge in the process of building the State institutions mainly lies in the ability to change old work systems and replace them with new and advanced work systems that suit the current stage and its circumstances, activating institutions and clearly defining their role in a way that achieves the transformation of all of them into effective and more powerful institutions.
