Cairo, SANA- Syria’s Permanent Representative to the Arab League, Ambassador Hossam El-Din Ala, has affirmed that the genocidal war committed by the Israeli occupation entity in the Gaza Strip and the escalating attacks on Syrian and Lebanese lands threaten international and regional peace and security as a whole and exacerbate the situation in the region.
Ambassador Ala’s remarks came during the extraordinary session of the Arab League Council at the level of permanent delegates to discuss developments in the situation in Palestine.
The Syrian diplomat added that the Israeli aggression against the Iranian consulate headquarters in Damascus, in a densely populated area and at rush hour, caused martyrs among Iranian diplomats and Syrian citizens, constituted an aggression against the sovereignty of the Syrian Arab Republic and set a precedent for deliberately targeting the headquarters of a diplomatic mission protected under the Vienna Conventions and the rules of international law.
“Syria condemns this aggression and the grave violation of international laws and norms, and appreciates the positions issued by the Arab League and the brotherly Arab countries that condemned this aggression as a violation of the sovereignty of the Syrian Arab Republic and a threat to its territorial integrity, and warns of its dangerous consequences on security and regional peace,” Ambassador Ala said.
Ambassador Ala noted that the continuation of the Israeli massacres and the erasure of Gaza is aimed at implementing the plan of ethnic cleansing and forced displacement that the occupying entity seeks to achieve.
Ambassador Ala said that in light of the continued American and Western military and political support, the occupying Israeli entity continues to violate all international rules, laws and norms.
He stressed that the United States insists on its full partnership in the Israeli aggression while continuing to provide deadly military supplies that are claiming the lives of hundreds of innocent people in occupied Palestine, Syria, and Lebanon, and are a cover for the continuation of the Israeli war machine.
Ambassador Ala added that Syria supports the draft resolution proposed by the delegation of the State of Palestine regarding action to confront the Zionist war of genocide that has been ongoing for six months against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and throughout the occupied Palestinian territory.
Ambassador Ala renewed Syria’s full support for the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and establishing their independent state, with Jerusalem as its capital, and holding the occupation entity accountable for its crimes and massacres.
