Patriarch Yazigi in Hama: Muslims and Christians are part of one mosaic

Hama, SANA- Greek Orthodox Patriarch John X Yazigi of Antioch and all East affirmed on Friday that Muslims and Christians are part of a unique mosaic, indicating that they renounce extremism and fanaticism.

During a mass in St. Georges Cathedral in Hama city, Patriarch Yazigi prayed to God to protect Syria’s Army, leadership and people, hoping that peace and amity will prevail once again in the country.

He expressed hope that all kidnapped people will be released soon, particularly Greek Orthodox Metropolitan of Aleppo and Iskenderun, Bishop Paul Yazigi, and Syriac Orthodox Metropolitan of Aleppo, Bishop John Ibrahim.

For his part, Elie Saliba Metropolitan of Hama praised the role of Patriarch Yazigi and his big contribution in establishing Maharda church.

Governor of Hama Ghassan Khalaf pointed out that Hama will remain a model for national unity, tolerance and amity.

Patriarch Yazigi’s visit is the first one to Hama Archdiocese. The visit began on Thursday and will last for four days.
