Damascus,SANA-Foreign and Expatriates Minister,Faysal Mikdad discussed Sunday with the UN Special Envoy to Syria, Geir Pedersen, the existing cooperation between Syria and the UN and the facilities provided by the Syrian government to the UN offices in Syria, including the Office of the Special Envoy.
Minister Mikdad referred to the Syrian government’s efforts to improve the humanitarian situation in Syria and achieve recovery.
Mikdad pointed out the catastrophic and inhumane effects on the Syrian people resulting from the illegal unilateral coercive measures imposed by the United States and its Western allies.
The Minister stressed the need for the United Nations to assume its responsibilities and cease violations of Syrian sovereignty resulting from repeated Israeli aggressions against Syrian territory and the illegal presence of American and Turkish forces.
For his part, Pedersen viewed the contacts he recently made to carry out his mission.
He stressed the need for all relevant parties to respect the sovereignty and integrity and unity of the territory and people of Syria.
The UN envoy underlined the importance of all countries implementing their obligations under the United Nations Charter to restore security and stability throughout the Syrian Arab Republic.
