Damascus, SANA- President Bashar al-Assad, the Secretary General of al-Baath Arab Socialist Party chaired a session of the party’s Central Committee meetings which are being held to discuss the proposal put forward on preparing to hold special elections to choose the party’s representatives for the next expanded Central Committee meeting.
During the meeting, President al-Assad gave a detailed presentation clarifying the standards of party work at this stage in general, and in relation to the items of the meeting’s agenda in particular, and the items of the proposal submitted to him for discussion on the elections of the party’s representatives to the expanded central committee meeting, which will elect members of a new central committee, and in turn a new central leadership will also be elected for al-Baath Arab Socialist Party.
His Excellency underlined the importance of what the meeting will issue, including change and renewal in the system of work, not only in the party, but also later in society and the state.
President al-Assad pointed out that the elections may not be a major step in this path, but they are necessary and important for one of the oldest parties to date in the Arab world.
President al-Assad added that these elections are a step that we must work to take in the right direction, through which the positive aspects appear and are boosted, and the negative aspects are addressed.
President al-Assad focused on three points in this regard: expanding participation in the elections of leaderships , overcoming the negative problems of interventions in the elections, and forming a committee of non-candidates to supervise these elections.
