Sabbagh underlines necessity to increase early recovery projects

Geneva, SANA- Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Bassam Sabbagh has underlined the necessity of increasing early recovery projects in quantity and quality because of their importance in improving the humanitarian situation in a tangible and sustainable way.

Sabbagh made the remarks during his meeting with the Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, Martin Griffiths, on the sidelines of the Second Global Refugee Forum, held in Geneva, Switzerland.

During the meeting, Sabbagh called for supporting the efforts exerted by the Syrian government in the field of the return of displaced Syrians to their homeland.

He highlighted the need to mobilize the necessary financial resources to meet the increasing needs of Syrians due to the severe shortage in funding for the humanitarian response plan.

For his part, Griffiths expressed appreciation for the facilitations provided by the Syrian government to the United Nations to enable it to fulfill its mandate, especially extending the authorization granted to it to bring in humanitarian aid through Bab al-Salama and al-Rai crossings.
