Mikdad stresses the need to convey the reality of Israeli attacks to UNSC

Damascus, SANA- Foreign and Expatriates Minister Fayssal Mikdad said that the United Nations Truce Supervision Organization (UNTSO) should carry out its tasks in terms of conveying facts to the UN Security Council, especially the Israeli attacks and the violations of the truce, which threaten peace security in the region.

This came during Mikdad’s meeting with Head of Mission and Chief of Staff of the UN Truce Supervision Organization (UNTSO), Major General Patrick Gauchat and the accompanying delegation on Sunday.

Talks dealt with the latest developments in Gaza, with Mikdad stressing that the brutal Israeli crimes against the Palestinians in Gaza should be stopped and the UN should assume its responsibility to maintain international peace and security.

Mikdad pointed out that Israeli occupation authorities’ brazen attack on senior UN officials expresses the extent of the Israeli entity’s lack of respect for international law and international legitimacy.

The minister warned the consequences of Israel’s continued air attacks on Syria and the need to condemn them and work to stop them by the United Nations.

For his part, Gauchat noted the Syrian government’s cooperation with mission in providing all facilitations to it.

Gauchat said that according to his mandate, he discussed the countries concerned in the region the latest developments in Gaza and its implications on the work of the UNTSO and others peacekeepers missions.
