With the participation of Syria…COP28 conference to form the future of climate action kicks off in Dubai

Dubai, SANA- Activities of the 28th edition of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) kicked off on Thursday at Expo City Dubai, which will last until December 12.

WAM news agency reported that COP28 is the largest climate event in the world hosted by the UAE, registered a record number of requests to attend in the Blue and Green Zones, reaching 500,000 participants, with more than 97,000 participants in the Blue Zone and 400,000 in the Green Zone, including ministers and representatives from NGOs, the private sector, peoples and youth to contribute to reshaping global climate action, while more than 180 heads of state and governments from around the world are attending the event.

COP 28 is an effective platform for achieving the highest climate ambitions and promoting sustainable economic and social development, providing an opportunity for all countries, sectors and groups of society to cooperate and unite efforts, especially at a time when the importance and necessity of global climate action is growing.

The conference witnesses the first global outcome of progress in the goals of the Paris Agreement reached at the COP21 conference, while the COP28 presidency focuses on achieving ambitious negotiating results through a practical agenda to transform pledges and promises into tangible progress in addressing the climate crisis by providing a comprehensive and decisive response to the toll that contributes to putting the world back on the right track for climate action.
