Moscow, SANA- Russian Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov described the Syrian- Russian relations as close and solid.
Speaking in an interview with SANA correspondent in Moscow on Saturday, Bogdanov said that “The coming year will mark eighty years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Syria. Relations between the two peoples and countries have always been close and based on these foundations ,both sides will work to develop communications on all tracks between them.”
He indicated that the meeting of Joint Syrian-Russian government committee in Moscow held today was productive during which an agreement was signed to expand political, economic, and technical cooperation between the two countries.
Bogdanov said that “The meeting is another step towards bolstering the political dialogue built on the basis of mutual trust, which takes place primarily at the level of the presidents of the two countries. This, in its entirety, constitutes a solid base that serves the interests of our two countries and benefits the Syrian and Russian peoples together.
It is noteworthy that as a follow-up to implementing understandings concluded in the summit held between Presidents Bashar al-Assad and Vladimir Putin in Moscow last March, a meeting was held between Minister of Presidential Affairs, Mansour Azzam, Chairman of Joint Syrian-Russian Governmental Committee “on the Syrian side” and Russian Deputy Prime Minister, Alexey Overchuk at the cabinet headquarters in Moscow in the presence of the two countries’ delegations.
