Damascus-SANA-In its session chaired by its Speaker Hammouda Sabbagh, the People’s Assembly commemorated the 50th anniversary of the October Liberation War.
In his speech on this anniversary, Sabbagh stressed that the October war is an epic written by the heroic men of the Syrian Arab Army under the leadership of the founding leader Hafez al-Assad and behind him the sons of the great Syrian people.
This epic embodied the greatest victory for the Arabs in modern history, restored the Arab nation’s dignity, broke the barrier of fear and illusions, and destroyed the myth of the Zionist “unconquerable” army, he added.
Speaker Sabbagh noted this Liberation war was not a passing event, but rather an embodiment of the spirit of sacrifice of the Syrian people, who have been confronting, for more than twelve years, the harshest and largest aggression and multi-form siege that the world has witnessed so far.
